Have you ever had one of those moments that you wish you could get a second chance to do things differently? There is no doubt we all have moments like that.
Jonah 3:1 might be one of the most encouraging verses in all of the Bible because it reminds us that God is the God of second chances.
“The word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time…”
Jonah was given a second chance.
As you read the rest of the story, you would think that the story would calm down. But things get crazier. Jonah preached a five word sermon that caused the entire city of Nineveh to break out into revival and to turn towards God. Through their response, we learn three things:
1. Turning is trusting.
2. Turning is hungering.
3. Turning is changing.
Repentance isn’t only turning away from things that God doesn’t
desire for us, but it is turning towards the things that God wants for us.
