Description

So, for this episode description I will lay rest the grace in my fingertips and type plainly for days like these are far too rare to cheapen with heavy handed words. What you are about to experience is the 10th episode of the Film Buffs & Gym Rats podcast in which we not only rank (in order of greatness) our top ten reviewed films, but also cover the five time academy award winner for Best Actor, Best Picture, Best Sound Mixing, Best Visual Effects and Best Costume Design and what I expect to top our leaderboard, the Ridley Scott epic, 2000's GLADIATOR.

If you've never seen Gladiator, trust you are in for a true delight. As I describe it, Gladiator is 'pure poetry' in that it is 'beautifully simple yet masterfully complex simultaneously' and not only is it my all time fave, it easily could have won an additional academy award for best supporting actor as Joaquin Phoenix provided a performance worthy of my anointing him the 'greatest cinematic villian' of all time! Join us as we share our experiences watching this film, how the experience changes over multiple viewings, the immense majesticness of Hans Zimmer's brilliant score, the plethora of scintillating quotes, the beautifully executed relationships between the characters, and how the film overcame an unfinished script and an actor's death during production to secure the Academy's most prestigious award for Best Picture!

Straight up, Gladiator is my indeed my all time but with all the bias I possess set aside, it is a true triumph of cinema and will evoke a viewing experience rarely had when watching modern day films. Which as a movie lover I ask you..."IS THIS NOT WHY YOU ARE HERE?!"
