Description

On our twelfth episode we return to school and enjoy a late breakfast as our regular 'heavy' Zach goes a little light with 1985's 'The Breakfast Club'. Directed by John Hughes (the lord of coming of age tales) 'The Breakfast Club' is often regarded as the pinnacle performance of the 'Brat Pack' (a play on the 'Rat Pack' from the '70s) consisting of Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald and others starring as teenage delinquents who have been summoned to school on a Saturday to suffer detention for various offences. Join us as we share our reactions of the film, favourite moments, it's influence on pop culture/how it will always be the standard for all high school themed media, it's iconic title track, overall rewatchability, proposterously incosistent principle, absurd library, amazing dance moves, and just how the film covers so much in an hour and a half. We're talking mental illness, drug use, friendship, bullying, rebellion, teenage agnst, peer pressure, violence, sexual assault, stereotypes, identity crisis, family issues, emotional intelligence (or lack there of), love, suicide, teamwork, loyalty, adulthood, sex, along with complete and often sudden over reactions to just about everything! Obviously without question 'The Breakfast Club' is iconic for reasons beyond just nostalgia, but I assure you, our individual rankings may surprise you...

We also dedicate some time into discussing what Jocelyn considers a quality gift, how one chooses sunglasses that enhance their exterior and represents their interior, our ferociously big energy experience at the Winnipeg Nightlife Awards, how my night would have ended differenly had I been wearing DIOR's SAUVAGE, the different responses different alcohol evokes, Blink 182's legacy, religion, weed (weed is tight), dick pics, Amber Heard shitting in Johnny Depp's bed, my dad's blueprint to maintaning his status as most capable dude in the city and how he absolutely HATES when my mother and I don't pick up the phone. We also share lessons we've learned in our respective high school experiences, how I approach my life like it's ROADHOUSE, why I'm banned for life as dating apps (and potential ways around this) and we finally hear how Tyson and Jocelyn first met!
