Description

On our sixteenth episode we celebrate as Zach once again solidifies his position as our resident heavy by choosing our first foreign film, 1998’s 'Run Lola Run'. Directed by Tom Tykwer and owning a powerful 93% on Rotten Tomatoes this film divided us immediately with Jocelyn’s opening remark being with how she both “loved and hated” it and Zach staying true to his original sentiment of making him feel as though he was perpetually ‘out of breath’!

Join as we share our initial reactions of the film, favourite moments, trivia, the consequences of watching foreign media with English dubs, the similarities it shares with SO MANY other films, why it’s included in most universities ‘film studies’ curriculum, why the MATH doesn’t add up (trust, we know), the complicated/convoluted motives of almost every character in the film, and debate whether we would make the same choices! Especially considering securing 100Gs for a relationship that is worth no more than 1 is no easy feat…

We also dedicate time into discussing how misrepresented finances in film result in glaring plot holes often too large to avoid (Gone in 60 Seconds: 200Gs to boost 50 cars in one night anyone…), how my dad and I are identical copies of each other in both appearance and behaviour, Tom Cruise’s incredible catalogue of film, the sweet satisfaction of hitting a metaphorical ‘dinger’ at someone’s insecurity/mistake (with love), religion, why I avoid horror movies and Jocelyn loves rom coms, LOTR + Soundtrack (and it’s influence over nefarious activities), the torturous endeavour of sharing a favourite film with someone who refuses to pay attention, Rowley, and engage in another round of Zach’s heads up 7up movie face off challenge! We also conclude that the Academy snubbed both Stallone for his performance in Creed and Sir Ian McKellen for his run as Gandalf along with the fact that Jocelyn radiates immense style, beauty, and grace and that we just may have rescued Armageddon from the bottom spot!!

Also, let it be known that we did not mention Springs, or how Jocelyn previously worked at the theatre once in this whole episode. Although it was brought to our collective attention that Zach may not be the weakest link amongst us in terms of calculations…
