This interview is with an awesome Appalachian from Prestonsburg, Kentucky by the name of James Stiltner.
In Eastern Kentucky, lots of folks have trail horses, show horses, and the occasional draft horse or mule however, James is a professional driver/trainer in harness racing!
The Red Mile is a harness track in Lexington, but there is now a track in Corbin, Kentucky, making it easier for South East Ky, Tennessee, and Virginia to enjoy a day at the track and offer another attraction to our part of the world.
James was raised in a good home, he was a well behaved child, but always had a need for speed. When he was 12 years old he competed against grown men in speed classes at the World horse shows, rode motocross, and now drives Standard bred horses in the harness races. There is a lot you can learn about harness racing in this episode and you will also hear several cool things Mr. Stiltner has got to experience.
