Courageous Conversations with Sheree welcomes Co-Authors Brenda L. Roberts and Pamela Howard-Oglesby. The topic of the hour is The Weeping Time, a slave sale which happened in Savannah, GA on March 2nd and 3rd, 1859. It is recorded as the largest sale of enslaved persons in U.S. history. Tune in this Thursday on 107.5 FM or WRUU.org as we prepare to celebrate, commemorate and memorialize together.
We will celebrate, commemorate, and memorialize these 429 enslaved persons during "The Weeping Time Weekend" on Friday, March 6, Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8, 2020. Pamela Howard-Oglesby was inspired by God to recognize pioneering African-American women. She collaborated with her long-time friend, Brenda L. Roberts, to conduct intensive research in order to bring Savannah's Black "First Ladies" to press. Both women are native Savannahians working to improve their communities.
