Episode 6- 459: We’re all Human

In the ‘80’s there was a song with a line that said “People
are People so why should it be, you and I should get along so awfully.” The
song went on to acknowledge people are different, but it questioned how people who
didn’t even really know one another could hate one another.

And this song reminds me of the importance of getting to
know the people we work with and the people we live near.  When we know someone who also has good will
and intention, it allows us to have better dialogue with one another.  When we get to know someone as an individual,
it strengthens the foundation on which the relationship is built.  It also allows us to appreciate knowing them
from a different perspective.  Being able
to have effective dialogue is a key to good relationships.   Not too long ago  I was in from of a group and I asked them to
share the one word that best described them.
Another group I asked to share something unique or a superpower they wish
they might enjoy having.  As people
leaned in to hear the information and share theirs, a heighten level of
engagement came about.  In each of those
cases the depth of engagement allowed us to get the work done and it served to
develop and strengthen interpersonal
bonds with in the group…because they were reminded, behind our roles, we
are all just people.

So, I encourage you, as you go throughout your day, keep in mind
that we are all just people making our way through life, we all have stories,
we all have our good moments and bad ones, we all need help sometimes, we can
all benefit from kindness and grace…we’ all human.

Let’s talk  about being human.
