Let's talk a little bit about focusing on the Outcome. Outcomes are important, however, sometimes we can find ourselves more focused on the out put or an action versus the intended value that we should be bringing. Let me give you an example. There was an individual who worked in production and was very fast at his work. He was so good, he was given a special project high priority project to do. He used his regular methodology to do the work, and everyone was amazed at the speed of his productivity. When it came time to inspect all the outcome of his work, it turned out that all the work had to be redone. the project was put together backwards and unable to be used in the next level of production work!
The focus had been on the ouput and action, instead of the outcome. The outcome matters and not only can we not lose sight of the goal, we need to check in along the way to ensure our actions are still aligned with the goal. Sometimes the goal may change. Producing a great typewriter likely has little value or relevancy in an era of computers and smartphones. So, when planning for progress, keep the goal and outcome in mind.
Today is the final day of our November Challenge. I hope you have found it to be a beneficial boost for your day. Let's finish strong - Compliment yourself, spend time in gratitude, spend time focusing on your goals, give someone a compliment or express some gratitude, and celebrate you!
