I hope you are well today and enjoying the holiday season. This is one of my favorite weeks of the year. The last week of the year is a time to reflect on the past year, a time for rest and rejuvenation, and a time for planning and re-invigoration! Let's spend a moment to talk about those things for a moment.
When I reflect on the past year, I like to focus on what has gone right, and all the things I have learned. I like to think that with more experience comes more wisdom, so that I can avoid repeating mistakes from the past. I also want to repeat and improve upon the positive things. When looking the things that went well in your life, look at the details. Did the positive things happen when your actions were aligned with the vision, values, and dreams you have for your life? What are those actions, and how can the actions be repeated or improved? These are great questions for personal reflection.
This time of year is also a time of rest, for many. Sometimes our times of rest can turn into times of projects. Nothing wrong with taking care of business, just make sure you are priority #1. Remember, when you are at your best, it is not only good for you, but for everyone around you. If you have a hard time taking rest, plan your rest, schedule it on your calendar and don't let yourself down! I know this is easier said than done, however, if you make the time for you, it will have a positive impact.
Finally, I like this time of year because there is time to plan and get invigorated by new ideas. When planning, it is great to dream big. We can sometimes talk ourselves out of dreaming big, however that is usually just fear and doubt talking. Fear and doubt have no place in our future or our planning. It's fun to start out dreaming big and then work our way down to the details of realizing our goals. When we break things into smaller pieces, what once seemed impossible, can seem very doable.
I hope you are off to the start of a great week, and have time to reflect, rest, and become re-invigorated about life and work.
