Episode 4-335: Monday Motivation: Spoiler Alert – It’s Imperfect
A really fun memory I recall is a day gone bad that was perfect. I was on a trip with my husband and it was a warm summer day in Reno, California. We had decided to take public transit from our hotel to check out a nearby mall. We enjoyed the day, window shopping, and we found an old fashioned spinning top toy that we bought to bring home to our young son. On our way back, we had not considered there could be a downpour of rain on this hot sunny day, but it began to pour. The nearest bust stop to our hotel was not that close. And so with bags in tow, and our summer clothes, we grabbed some newspapers and dashed underneath awnings as we made our way back to the hotel. We laughed at the circumstances and our “solution.” Things had definitely not gone
as expected, and yet they had gone perfectly because we allowed ourselves to live in and enjoy the moment. The lack of umbrellas and knowledge of the rain, was a path to joy and laughter. Our life experience allowed us to see fun in the absurdity of the circumstances as an option. The truth is most everyone has choice around how they will manage their circumstances.
Life will not be perfect, it will not always go as planned, and knowing this we can prepare for managing those circumstances. Not that we can prepare the details of the moment, but we can determine to make the most of our situation. That is to take the learning, to find the path for enjoyment, to find the value in the circumstances being part of our experience forward.
So, while it may be a spoiler alert that life will be full of what might be considered imperfections – the reality is you can choose to see your life as the perfect path for your future and enjoy it along the way. I am so glad I have the memory of dashing through the rain and laughing that summer day…and that I can now
share it with you!
