Let’s Talk About Recharging
Rest gets a bad rap. There’s the idea that we will be seen as a tortoise and the hare will pass us by, and there is the idea that rest equates to idleness and hold little value. However, we can rest in many ways and rest is important to allow us to recharge, refocus, recommit, and to finish strong.
Rest can certainly come in the traditional form of sleep. It can also come in the form of engaging in activities that are different than the norm.
Rest can come in the form of new surroundings that allow you to
disconnect from the norm in peace and comfort. Rest can look like reading a book, daydreaming or spending time with others.
It can be challenging to build in time for rest and to maintain
that time for rest. But we owe it to ourselves to have the energy and focus to perform and engage as our best selves.
Through our ability to rest, we also help to give other permission to rest in order to recharge, refocus, and finish strong.
So, take on the challenge of rest. Figure out what kinds of rest work best for you and what your preferred schedule of rest will be. When we can figure out how to rest and be our best selves, we will be well on our way to living a fulfilled life.
