Have you ever regretted maintaining self-control of your emotions and behaviors? I’m guessing most of us can answer “no” to that question.
On a regular basis, I have a chance to interact with people who have failed the challenge of self-restraint and self-control. Unfortunately, we cannot go back in time, and
providing apologies, doesn’t erase our experiences of the past.
The good news is that self-control, is something we can plan for and practice. We can work on our mindset to determine that we will maintain intentional control of our actions and not let the actions of others influence our emotions to the point of losing control. Now this
doesn’t imply that one predetermined response is applicable for every situation, it just determines that we will be in the best state of mind to make a good decision for the circumstances at hand. And when we do our best with the best we have to offer that is the best we can do and it will necessarily involve our exercising self-control. Let’s not be managed by our emotions, but let’s manage our emotions to help us learn, grow, and make good decisions for our future.
