Let’s Talk About a Starting Point.
The ability to employ a beginners mindset is key to our progress and success. Having a mindset that allows us to see things with fresh eyes can help open us up to new possibilities, or help us to arrive at creative solutions.
Another
thing beginners employ is an understanding that work precedes an outcome and,the learning process my seem to slow things down at first, but it is just a
learner’s curve that actually provides a long term advantage. An educator would not start students out with algebra that do not yet know multiplication and division. Likewise we cannot expect to skip the preparation necessary for us to be successful in handling difficult or complex tasks, Consider a group of people interested
in building a home. We would not expect them to start ordering materials and building without a plan. Neither would we expect them to hire all
novices to complete a task. As simple as that illustration seems, we often have people on our teams or in our groups that are in a hurry to get to what they think may be he desired outcome, without first putting a plan to together or ensuring everyone is understanding and supportive of the process so we start with a common understanding as our starting point..
If we take care of the fundamentals first and incrementally build upon our learning and our successes, the things we put in place will have a better chance of sticking and supporting future success. Sometimes we must go slow in order to later go fast, we must take care of the fundamentals first.
