Episode 6–467: Just Say Thank You
Let’s talk about gratitude and courtesy
Sometimes the best thing to say is “Thank You.” It’s something
we can all do that only costs us our presence and attention.
When we say thank you we make an acknowledgement – that we
see someone, that we aware of something they have done, and that we have gratitude and appreciation for that person and/or something they have shared.
When we deflect compliments and comments, we likely are unintentionally devaluing the compliment or comment that someone is taking the time to share with us. Instead of devaluing or diminishing the acknowledgements, “Just say Thank You.”
When someone expresses appreciation they acknowledge that they are a recipient or benefactor of action you have taken, and so the appropriate response to value that compliment or gift of
gratitude is to acknowledge what has been shared by saying “Thank you.”
When we accept gratitude it allows us to understand our ability to positively influence others and to be able to help support
positive change. Being intentional about seeing how others contribute, can help us to see how we are all a part of various communities and it allows us to realize just how much we have to
be thankful for.
In this season of Thanksgiving, and always, remember to give
the gift of thanks to those around us, for their contributions and presence in our lives. Be intentionally observant and look for opportunities to ‘Just say Thank You.’
