Episode 6 – 482: Watch Where You’re Going
Let’s talk about Staying Alert
Like many of you, I have recently been walking through some very
crowded locations. And while it is nice to be out and about, I am amazed at just how many people fail to pay attention while they are walking or look in a completely different direction than the
direction in which they are traveling. It’s as though they expect others to look out for them while they look down at their phones or look backward while
traveling forward.
Then there are the folks who expect others to move out of
the way for them. They walk directly, as though they are on a path that does not allow them to divert to the left or the right for any reason.
Sometime people can be looking forward, but they fail to
keep an eye on all of the circumstances on their path, and they may unintentionally step into something, encounter an unexpected obstacle, or miss the signs meant to help us progress effectively.
In all of these scenarios people, we are reminded that in
life, whether it be while working or outside of work, it’s important to watch where you are going and to stay alert to the current and potential future circumstances. When we are intentional about watching where we are going and paying attention to varied circumstances, we give ourselves the be opportunity to respond to circumstances, or to manipulate or manage circumstances for the best outcomes. And when you are intentionally paying attention in crowded spaces, it will allow us to be better managers of our efforts and our time.
So, I encourage you to be stay alert and be intentional about watching where you are going.
