Episode 6 – 495: Box Series – Gift
Let’s talk about Giving and Receiving Gifts
Merry Christmas! Today is a day that many people around the
world exchange gifts, and in the Christian faith many use this day to acknowledge the birth of Jesus Christ. So today I wanted to focus on the idea of giving and receiving gifts.
In our personal and business lives we have the opportunity to give to others and receive from others. When we truly understand the capacity we have to be of service to others, we can see it as the awesome responsibility that it is. We have the capacity to build others up, to speak and share confidence. Sometimes
we can see abilities and possibilities in others that they can not see in themselves. Helping others to understand their gifts and how those gifts can be used, can be powerful in helping people to
unleash the full power of their gifts. Think back on a time that someone has encouraged you to take a chance or to keep at something hard. That encouragement was a gift given to you.
Likewise, we have the capacity to receive gifts from others. And like physically packaged gifts, the gifts we receive can come in different sizes, some can be used immediately, and some require practice and skill to handle effectively.
Sometimes gift come in the form of opportunities to expand our responsibilities or to take on new responsibilities.
Sometimes gifts of experience and learning may be disguised in hard work, that expands our abilities, and capacity. We can sometimes discount or disregard the gifts given to us or fully reject a gift. Sometimes, our sense of humility or our limited sense of self, can get in the way of receiving the gifts available to us. However, we can change perspective to view opportunities, information, and encouragement as gifts for our good to be received, which will help us and others realize greater potential.
In all of this, the important thing is that the gift be opened and utilized. If we do not acknowledge or accept the gifts we have available to us, they are of no value. So today, be encouraged to
know that life if full of opportunities to give and receive gifts that can help us to think, learn, grow, and live more fulfilled lives and it is up to us to acknowledge those gifts and to help others to do the same.
