Briana Bowley interviews Emma Watts on how her passion for music, movement and human behaviour brought about the creation of The Daisie Chain.
Emma grew up in England studying music, learning saxophone, clarinet, piano and singing and always had an interest in music therapy and the way music seemed to bring people together.
Moving to Australia in 1999, Emma has since worked with music students, school bands and went on to coach a network of guitar teachers on how to build their businesses through customer service, sales and mindset.
Emma began teaching Zumba Fitness in 2010 which led to her interest in all things health and wellbeing and eventually led to her teaching Zumba in aged care facilities which was a turning point for her as her Nan was in a home in England with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Having worked with Activity Coordinators in aged care had Emma recognise a need for more activities, movement and music and so The Daisie Chain was established in memory of her Nan who used to sing Daisy Daisy to her when she was a child.
The Daisie Chain connects people with the elderly, through instructors who teach Zumba Gold, Chair Yoga, Chair Pom Poms, Chair Ballet and musical entertainers. The Daisie Chain also has a volunteer program which matches visitors with residents based on their interests.
