Description

Briana Bowley chats with martial artist and 3rd Dan karate black belt, Margie Nottle on her cause and her passion, fighting child sex trafficking – what that looks like and how we can help make an impact.

Originally trained as a nurse, Margie has been working part time for 30 years specialising in High Dependency while raising her three kids. For the last 15 years, she has been training and teaching karate and muay thai kickboxing at Boars Martial Arts, and hopes to grade for her 4th Dan Black Belt in December this year. Back in 2012 Margie decided to become involved in fighting child sex trafficking after hearing someone speak about their work in this area. Since then, she has studied, networked and followed the work of several different organisations, which eventually led her to teach self defence in South East Asia to girls rescued from trafficking, their social workers and some of the rescuers. While looking to expand her volunteer work overseas, Margie also enjoys speaking to high schools and community groups in Adelaide to grow awareness that leads to action or a change in behaviour..... as there would be no supply if there was no demand.
