In 1988 Spike Lee released the movie "School Daze". Amongst many scenes in that movie there is one scene that will forever be a staple in cinema especially black cinema. The scene where Laurence Fishburne's character "Dap" runs through campus and yells "Wake Up". This scene plagues the minds of many because they wonder what is he asking us to wake up to or for? Well the recent events of this week especially the incident at the Oscars has shown that even close to 40 years later; WE STILL ARE IN NEED OF WAKING UP.
