As I’m Sitting (Well they can take you away) Dedicated to the memory of Jeff Cederle 06/11/1962-07/08/2012

As I’m sitting, wandering back in my mind

It’s only fitting, yours are the memories I find

You and I so long, friends like brothers you could always depend

It all went wrong, Heaven rang, but you’re in my thoughts again

Remember back in ’76? Drinking Boones Farm, riding bikes

Soon after cars to fix, finish school find a girl who likes

Uno, loser cracked on his knuckles, beers for breakfast, lunch and dinner

Sharing teardrops and chuckles, taking a chance this loser turns into a winner

As I’m sitting, those moments fall like a soft rain

The pain’s not quitting, I miss you laughing keeping me sane

Falls are splashing, wetting my cheeks, nights at “The Bucket”

Years are crashing, piling up since, aw man fuck it…

Walked the crowds at Alpine, bounced at bars in school

Dated those women, so fine, for a minute we were so cool!

Trippin talkin stupid till dawn, golfing bright and early with bloodies

One summer day you were gone, God decided He needed one of my best buddies

Well they can take you away

They can turn off the light

But your life will always stay

Your story lives to see another night

When I tilt back and laugh, choke back a little tear in my throat

I see you holding a wood staff, tending a fire, or getting high on a boat

Lake Michigan fireworks, or road tripping on our spring break

Busting tables on some unruly jerks, seeing how much alcohol it takes

To reach our highest high, to laugh until we choked and cried

My friend I never got to say goodbye, so in my heart you never died

I refuse to let your absence allow, your booming voice or giant smile

Fade away cause you’re not here now, brother you always went that extra mile

Well, they can take you away

But they can’t never stop me from saying

I’m always going talk of the day

You weren’t necessarily the type for praying

But I’m going to preach

I got a lesson here to teach

As I’m sitting, the tears have turned to one big grin

And I’m admitting, we maybe broke a law, maybe made a sin

Victor’s head is hanging out the Cadillac, Hall & Oates talkin’ ‘bout a Man-eater

Clear the bong, hold it in, don’t hack! Car’s a piece of shit but it’s got a heater!

Those days have passed, the roads we weaved across have been repaved

Fear not the memories last, somehow those awesome times have been saved

I got your six, rest easy man, I know you have mine, I feel you inside my mind

Sometimes I need a fix, there those days are again, that’s where I always find

You.
