Come Around again
Ran the fields, skinned knees, laughed and cried
Some of us moved away and some of us died
Imitated as kids what we thought to be so cool
Till we saw how that ignorance made you a fool
But those lessons we learned back in the day
Run opposite of what some of you now say
Tell me how true beauty comes from within
While you still burn a cross for the color of skin
As you follow a leader filled with vile and hate
How can you find beauty in anything you create
Ask for unity and another chance, ask can I still be your friend
When those days we ran with open hearts come around again
We played all the songs, hung with everyone, loving the times
Now you ostracize by selection, link color and creed to crimes
All behind a mockery of democracy, wrap him in MAGA flags
Overlook the mob violence and forget those in the body bags
Say he didn’t lead ‘em, with all that bullshit he was feeding ‘em
Cowards! Hide behind the constitution, lost sheep needing him
History will bear the greatest witness despite your bellowing
As time marches forward decency will win and I’ll be mellowing
But wonder I will, how can you rectify the truth with your stance
I stand beside what we both know is right, and say here’s a chance
I thrust my open arms, put aside the lies so I can still be your friend
Go to the times where we had so much fun, let’s come around again
