Empty Spaces
Sunshine and laughter, banner hanging from the rafter, both
our names in a heart
Promises it seems, have a way of complicating dreams, when
together falls apart
Empty spaces leave too much; no eyes to see and I cannot touch;
the sea ahead looks foreboding
Empty spaces on the shore, can’t bear the weight much more, where
we stood the ground’s eroding
Tomorrow’s ahead for years, we toast everyone with cheers, our
time is beginning
I go to grab you to steal a kiss, it’s just a pillow it can’t
go on like this, we’re s’posed to be winning
Empty spaces need to melt away, enveloped in each other’s
arms to stay, connected from the first hello
Empty spaces can’t define our love, your love I can’t get
enough, gold wrap that finger and never let go
Empty spaces don’t exist no more, rolling with the pets on
the floor
Empty spaces are where we sat alone, no more waiting on the
telephone
Empty spaces turned into smiling faces in private places a couple’s
silhouette replaces
Empty spaces
