Fall thoughts
Starting to take a little longer for the lights to come on
Songbirds are saying soon the flowers will be gone
Time to fly to a warmer spot and count the days until spring
Had a great time again and when I see you next year I’ll sing
I’m getting colder as the sun sets, I know that bird tells true
Soon the pretty landscape will no longer grace my view
Leaves drop, nuts and petals and the squirrels hustle to bury
What once were pretty trees now hang so bare and scary
Halloween around the corner, Thanksgiving not far behind
Time to haul out the blankets, pray your pants fit your behind
It seemed so nice leaving all of the windows open day and night
But the mercury dips just a little too low with lack of sunlight
Yes old man winter is on his way, once again disrupting things
Bitter cold, closed up doors, snow to shovel is all he brings
Santa Claus and fruitcake along with that little boy drummer
Ah! You can have the lot of them, just wake me when it’s summer
