Memories

The calendar drops another page

Adds another digit to my age

Those bright sunny days

My music loudly plays

Tunes that bring a smile to my face

Gets me dancin’ all over the place

Time sure runs fast when your days start to get slow

Memories both happy and sad, some so long ago

Some still fresh like wet paint that you dare not touch

Some make you grimace so don’t think of them too much

Singin’ into a wooden spoon

Summer will be here soon

People and pets now gone from view

Can’t replace and God knows I miss you

Time sure runs fast when your days start to get slow

Memories both happy and sad, some so long ago

Some still fresh like wet paint that you dare not touch

Some make you grimace so don’t think of them too much

Thank you all for being a part of my life and everything

The smiles then, and the ones your memories bring

And I love my family and every friend

I’ll always defend, yes you can depend

We make more memories every day

Chiseled in stone and here to stay

Time sure runs fast when your days start to get slow

Memories both happy and sad, some so long ago

Some still fresh like wet paint that we ain’t completed

Painted over cause why remember being defeated

Yeah, time runs fast, but our minds run quicker

Pop a bottled water, watch the fire flicker

Fire a doob, come sit by my side

For a couple hours come hide

Laugh about the things we thought

Would get us busted and we’d be caught

Back when gas was under a buck

We were young and didn’t give a fuck

Time has run so far from then it’s true

Memories soon will be all that’s left of you

One day all the painting will be done

Those around will gather to have fun

And the tales of days we ran, free without a care

Times we flew so high, drifting through the air

The smiles we brought, the tears we fought

All wrapped together in the smile we sought

Time sure runs fast when your days start to get slow

Memories both happy and sad, some so long ago

Some make me feel cool, some make me look dumb

Some you will never forget, while some you will become
