My Brother
My brother is white, my brother is black,
my brother’s that illegal running out of the back
Door swings open, the law walks in,
followed by the masses who are free from sin
Put a wall around my sea and my amber waves of grain,
give lady liberty a hand gun cause we won’t get fooled again
My brother is nervous of the rallies and the hate,
my brother is praying that we somehow change the state
Of confusion in our leaders, the ones who pull the strings,
threats and ambiguation, just to name a few things
Fingers pointing, jaws flapping, time to unfriend,
from Facebook to the UN, so, tell me where does it end?
My brother is thinking of running away, my brother says give me a good reason to stay
I say deep down I think each of us wants peace, too many squeaky wheels all demanding grease
I say it’s time we turned a cheek and hugged a friend,
like back in the day, bitch some but make up in the end
My brother don’t let them dampen your will,
my brother the future can and will
get brighter still
