Sometimes
Sometimes he wonders how it went this far
There’s a memory riding in the back of the car
Waving his middle finger at the day
No particular reason to feel that way
He breaks down, and the anger has settled in place
Swinging hard, ooh the memory of the tears on her face
Years of pain, till she left him alone with his fears
Children try to reach him but his frustration sears
Sometimes alone locked away sitting back in his cell
Outside or in it’s just the same old living hell
Closed mind, closed heart, closed from view
I feel your struggle, but man look at you
He keeps it to himself, rather die than shed a tear
They say jail is hell, but no one cares in here
I’ll die alone, I’ll cry inside, I won’t show regret
Don’t bother thinking of me, I’m someone to forget
Sometimes I wonder if they said you could go back
Would you drive the train any better? Keep it on the track?
There’s sunshine every morning, just open up your eyes
A loser is only a loser, when he no longer tries
Sometimes I think of you,
and I just can’t imagine you
not trying.
