Sunshine
Good morning Mr. Sunshine, I’m not trying to be cold
It’s just I had a little something that I hadn’t finished yet
If you could spare me a few minutes, I’d be forever in your debt
Let me drift back into dreamland, before the trail goes cold
She was a beauty to behold, her smile just lit up my night
No one seemed to notice, and I know we didn’t really care
Like we were floating on a cloud, and nobody else was there
She warmed my heart with that smile, made everything alright
It was the first time in so many times, I didn’t need to hide
Didn’t know me, but yet she knew me so well
Sometimes there’s things you just needn’t tell
We both felt a sense of relief; it’s okay, please come inside
Now we look for the perfect day to fly our kites up high
Away from the trees that stand right in our way
Run in the field, acting like children at play
Then release them and make a wish as they float off in the sky
Nightfall brings another smile, time to check the stars
We don’t need too much, just a blanket and a friend
And a feeling like it’s something you want over again
Her eyes sparkling, glimmering reflections of Jupiter or Mars
So Mr. Sunshine please don’t take offense at my request
It’s just that everything was so splendid in that dream
What’s that? Make it so under your warm sun beam?
Dreams are nice but real sunshine’s the one that is best
She’s all that.
Sunshine.
