This dream
She was exhausted and he was depressed, he felt so defeated,
he sorrowfully confessed
Mornings had found him disheveled, mistreated even in
dreams, it was hard to get dressed
Don’t you be reading tea leaves, she spoke in sharp inflection,
my absence physically is not a rejection
And before a fortnight has passed we’ll share a toke, by
then I will have healed this sudden infection
Again, he took her promise, through several grains of sand,
one day babe, everything will go as planned
She said with such conviction, smiling through her pains,
promising sunsets forever, offering her hand
He lumbered back to his brooding grounds, feeling like an
old fighter who just went twelve rounds
Still, he mumbled to himself, I’d do it again cause she
makes life brighter, closed his eyes to the sounds
Blasted music through his speakers as he sipped, morning
coffee from the stove, keep the auto-dripped
Smiled as he pulled on his sneakers, wanting to scream for
joy about her return but he kept it zipped
Warmth melts away the glacier over his heart, the genesis of
a shared sunrise excited him from the start
Lying together melding into one joy, one emotion, eternally
ensnared together, never to be apart
He whispered to her over the telephone, she laid back
feeling happy as she drifted into the twilight zone
Knowing that in just another sleep she would be dancing on
the ceiling with her lover never to be alone
They both felt the connection, she healed that infection,
aimed her car in his direction, hurling her affection
He caught it with such glee, two stranded lovers free,
joining souls sailing the sea, riding waves of love eternally
Shhh, don’t you wake me from this dream…
