Throwing caution to the wind
You be careful with that stick, you’ll lose an eye
Don’t you run to me when you fall down and cry
Button up your coat or you will surely catch your death
Warnings I heard my whole life, till mama’s dying breath
Sometimes, you just can’t seem to help yourself
Despite warnings about a spying Christmas elf
Keeping track of the naughty ones that sinned
And there I stood throwing caution to the wind
I know what happens when you offer your heart
You make it easy for someone to just rip it apart
But not every bump in the road is cause to abandon
Yellow bricks be damned, cause honey I’m still standin’
Sometimes, you see,I just can’t seem to help myself
Despite mothers warnings about that damn Christmas elf
Honey, I knew from the first time our eyes met and we grinned
You and I would have no problem throwing caution to the wind
Roads under repair are one thing, but our road disappeared
We went through every single bad thing that we ever feared
Slowing heartbeat, short of breath, not one bar of signal to send
Like the Phoenix, up from the ashes that love of ours took over again
Sometimes, you gotta put your worries up on the whittled wood shelf
Right next to the warnings and stories of the spying little Christmas elf
That elf can see that we are meant to be, he just sits there and grins
Babe everything is going to be alright holding hands throwing caution to the wind
