Description

Times like these

Lying here alone, the thunder claps and lights my bed

Pillows fill the void where she used to lay her head

Times like these, I wonder where the road will lead me now

Can’t find the way, there’s a desire but I don’t know how

Times like these, I’d tell my deepest fears but no one’s there

Tangled emotions, wrapped in silence I sit and stare

All the green, the songbirds sing, the pretty flowers dot the yard

Dreamed of making a place to unwind when life gets a bit too hard

Times like these, I feel the pain from so many I have never met

I’ve seen the tears on the little children’s faces, pain I’ll never forget

Times like these, I hear the banter and the hate, and there’s times I get so lost

Freedom’s not free, but tell me friend, have you truly figured out the cost

Times like these, what’s happened to us?

Better wear your mask, science is all I trust

Times like these, I can’t believe the words that I hear

Never mind the pandemic we got plenty more to fear

I close my eyes and try to picture when we were tight

It’s the last time everything seemed to feel totally right

Times like these, I’m not looking to return there at any cost

There may have been comfort but that’s already been lost

Times like these, have helped me to understand why

Was a beautiful ride, but I guess it was time to say goodbye

I’m waiting for the clouds to break, soon the sun will shine

I still won’t have my pot of gold, but at least what I got is mine

Times like these, everyone is trying to get a better piece of the pie

I sit watching for rainbows, may never find the gold but I’ll always try

Times like these have taught me; the world she rotates pretty fast

I’m both holding onto, and holding out hope that I find true love at last
