The program begins with I Thes. 5:9, "God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ." This ties into last week's message on the joy of salvation and escaping God's wrath. Gary next explains a principle he learned years ago, to give praise in all things, from the book Prison to Praise. Isa. 61 says God gives a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. I Thes 5:18 says give thanks in all things. Gary weaves these together and shows how praise and thanks can set us free from despair and heaviness. He then shares how the Holy Spirit said to him to give thanks and how the Spirit worked a seemingly bad thing for good.
