Governor Hochul has signed off in new maps for the state's congressional districts that give Democrats a heavy political advantage over Republicans. They were drawn in such a way that out of the 26 congressional districts New York will be divided into, Democrats will be the majority of registered voters in 22 of them.
President Biden is pledging to New Yorkers and the nation that the federal government will step up its fight against gun violence by working more closely with police and communities to stop the surging bloodshed. He told police, law enforcement officials and others at NYPD headquarters that "We can do something about this."
