On #TheUpdate this Tuesday, Governor Murphy in New Jersey, Governor Lamont in Connecticut, as well as the governors of Delaware and Oregon have announced plans to lift statewide mask requirements in schools a month or two from now. Lamont says he's recommending the state end its mask mandate for schools and child care centers on February 28th, while Murphy set his date for March 7th. The Justice Department is signaling that it might be open to allowing so-called safe injection sites, or safe havens for people to use heroin and other narcotics with protections against fatal overdoses. The department's stance comes a year after federal prosecutors won a major court ruling that found the sites would violate federal law. Hyundai and Kia are telling the owners of nearly 485,000 vehicles in the U.S to park them outdoors because they can catch fire. This time, the problem is contamination in the antilock brake control module that can cause an electrical short.
