On Thursday's edition of #TheUpdate, we're talking about the marijuana equal opportunity for all. New York is proposing a $200 million fund to help people of color, women, and some others start marijuana businesses. It's an ambitious plan to make the pot industry more equitable. Officials though haven't yet nailed down some components that experts say are crucial to making the investment effective.
New York's high school graduation rate rose slightly last year after the pandemic forced the cancellations of regents exams that are normally required for a diploma. Without knowing how much cancelling regents affected the graduating class of 2021, the increase in the overall graduation rate to 86.1% is in line with an upward trend seen over the past several years.
The omicron wave that assaulted bthe United States this winter also boosted its defenses, leaving enough protection against the coronavirus that future spikes will likely require much less disruption to society.
And with pandemic work-from-home situations breeding separation anxiety and other bad behaviors in dogs, more New Yorkers are scared of their pets blowing their co-op board interviews- so they're drugging their pooches, calling in stunt doubles, and even paying for special training. πŸΆπŸ’ŠπŸ’΅
