From New York, the greatest city in the world, it's The Update with Brandon Julien! The latest developing coronavirus news leads things off today.
Some stories talked about on today's show were:
1. New York Gov. Cuomo said that the state's confirmed coronavirus cases are up by about 25 from Monday's official count of 142. He didn't give an exact figure of new patients. Cuomo said on CNN's "New Day" that only people in "vulnerable populations" such as the elderly and people with other health problems need to avoid air travel and large gatherings.
2. Lawyers for Harvey Weinstein say he only deserves five years in prison for his New York City rape conviction after already suffering a “historic” fall from grace and serious health issues. They made the argument in a court papers filed Monday in advance of the 67-year-old former mogul’s sentencing on Wednesday.
3. A former CIA software engineer accused of stealing a massive trove of the agency's hacking tools and handing it over to WikiLeaks was convicted of only minor charges after a jury deadlocked on more serious espionage charges against him. He was convicted Monday by a federal jury of contempt of court and making false statements after a four-week trial in Manhattan federal court.
