"The Birdcage" is a comedy film that revolves around a gay couple, Armand Goldman, who owns a drag club called The Birdcage, and his partner, Albert. Their lives take an unexpected turn when Armand's son, Val, announces his engagement to Barbara Keeley. Barbara's father is a conservative senator, Kevin Keeley, who is up for re-election. To avoid scandal and impress Barbara's ultra-conservative family, Val asks his father to hide his true identity and pretend to be a straight cultural attaché.
