In today's episode, Jason talks with Marcus Lashley. Marcus is an assistant professor at the University of Florida where he has focused his extension program on understanding the role of soil disturbance and fire ecology in managing wildlife habitat, particularly of game species. Since spring has sprung, or is trying to, mother nature is providing us with a lot of green scenery. The annual green up and last week’s podcast got Jason thinking about how mother nature never leaves the ground bare. To that end, how can we provide good, nutritious vegetation for wildlife with as little effort as possible. To talk about just that, Jason spoke with Marcus over the phone. Fire isn’t something that is widely used in northern states so we have a lot to learn from the south states how to use prescribed fire to benefit turkey, deer, and other wildlife.
