Our guest in this episode is Tim Walker, a native of England, who's been living stateside for over 20 years now.
Along the way, Tim's experienced, well, a lot!
He's sort of like the character in the classic joke about the person who says he knows everyone and, when the bluff is called by a friend, he showcases those relationships by traveling around to meet all the people - including the Pope. The punchline finds a stranger asking the buddy at the Vatican: "I know that's Tim on the balcony (at the Vatican), but who's the fella in the white robe and wacky hat standing next to him?"
As far as we know, Tim's never personally met Pope Leo XIV, but he does share memories of his childhood in England, visiting grandparents in the States and seeing his first San Francisco Giants' game at Candlestick Park featuring Willie Mays and Bobby Bonds, how he got to be a 49ers fan, an LSU Tigers fans, and why he still has a stake in season tickets for Leeds United and the Denver Broncos despite living in St. Petersburg, FL, where he was known to ride his bicyle to Tampa Bay Rays games at Tropicana Field.
We also discover how, through a business opportunity, he and his partner presented to the International Olympic Committee and then-IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch. Tim proceeded to top that story by noting how he quasi-photo bombed a picture featuring Samaranch, Prince Albert II of Monaco, and then-FIFA President Joao Havelange during a convention he all were attending.
There are countless other stories Tim shares during our Conversation, including the circumstances that led to his first live rock concert being Queen on June 6, 1977, at London's Earls Court Exhibition Center.
