Despite that fact, many organizations reserve leadership positions and titles for those who have a history or penchant for volunteering. This tendency reduces the likelihood that other (maybe even qualified) leaders get involved or have opportunity to get involved. Furthermore, volunteer-based leadership recruitment initiatives hinder cognitive diversity needed among teams… and a few other interesting ideas.
