옛날 옛적에
A long time ago,
한 왕과 왕비가 매일 같이 다음과 같이 말하곤 했습니다.
there were a King and Queen who said every day,
아, 만약 우리에게 아이가 있었더라면
“Ah, if only we had a child!”
그러나 그들은 아이를 가지지 못했습니다.
but they never had one.
그러나 한번은 여왕이 목욕을 하던 중에 일어난 일이었습니다.
But it happened that once when the Queen was bathing,
개구리가 물 밖으로 기어올라와서 땅을 디디더니
a Frog crept out of the water on to the land,
그녀에게 말하길
and said to her,
당신의 소원이 이루어질 것입니다.
“Your wish shall be fulfilled.
올해가 가기 전까지
Before a year has gone by,
당신은 딸을 가지게 될 겁니다.
you shall have a daughter.”
개구리가 말한 대로 이루어 졌습니다.
What the Frog had said came true,
그렇게 여왕은 작은 소녀를 낳았습니다.
and the Queen had a little girl,
