when she was fifteen years old,
왕과 왕비는 집에 있지 않았습니다.
the King and Queen were not at home,
아가씨는 성에 홀로 남겨져 있었습니다.
and the maiden was left in the palace quite alone.
그래서 그녀는 성의 여기저기를 돌아다녔습니다.
So she went round into all sorts of places,
그녀가 좋아하는 방과 침실들을 들여다보고
looked into rooms and bedchambers just as she liked,
마침내 오래된 탑에 이르렀습니다.
and at last came to an old tower.
그녀는 좁고 굽이치는 계단을 올랐습니다.
She climbed up the narrow winding-staircase,
그리고 작은 문앞에 이르렀습니다.
and reached a little door.
녹슨 열쇠가 자물쇠에 있었고,
A rusty key was in the lock,
그녀가 그걸을 돌려 문을 열었을 때에
and when she turned it the door sprang open.
그 작은 방에는 물레와 늙은 여자가 앉아있었습니다.
