Over more than three decades, Richard served as the Senior Vice President of Sales for Byer, a multi-brand design, marketing, and manufacturing company. Headquartered in San Francisco with offices in Los Angeles, New York, and Hong Kong. In his time in leadership, Richard worked with many brands, including Kohl’s, Dillard’s, and Hudson’s. 

A seasoned veteran of the fashion industry, Richard made a remarkable transition to the world of philanthropy. Today, Richard serves as VP of Philanthropy & Social Enterprise at Union Rescue Mission in Los Angeles – one of the largest rescue missions in the United States and the oldest in Los Angeles. Using his expertise in sales, marketing, and trend analysis, Richard has helped multiple non-profits build their fundraising and marketing programs. 

Dave and Carly discuss with Richard the importance of resilience when there are obstacles in the way, his decades-long journey of supporting social justice, fighting homelessness, and working to reduce poverty in Los Angeles and around the world.
