Author, Speaker, and Rabbi Burton Visotzky wrote that the battle with Pharaoh was not simply Moses and a king--it was a "pissing match" between two powers. One, was the creator of the world. The other thought he was a god. Pharaoh and Yahweh go head to head because the earthly ruler believed he was all powerful. Due to his reckless behavior his nation suffered, soldiers died, and citizens lost what was most precious to them. Are there times when we believe we know better than the God of Second Chances? Yet this same God, reached out to protect the nation of Israel as well as other Egyptians who decided to trust the true ruler of all.
