Believe it or not, there are many internal leaders who don’t like their outside publicist speaking directly with their CEO. I’m sure there are a myriad of reasons for this: They don’t want to waste their CEO’s time, maybe the CEO doesn’t want to speak with the publicist, or they don’t think it’s needed.
Yes, there are times when a CEO needs to delegate to their CMO or vice president. And sure, there is a place for keeping internal information, well, internal. But if you’re the CEO, your publicist or PR team should be a continual presence on your calendar. These internal check-ins provide your publicist with unfiltered information that could inspire new media campaigns.
