Legacy is a powerful word. A proactive word. It denotes something valuable being handed down from one period of time to the next. Its purpose is not to memorialize the past, but to advance a secure future. Jesus spoke of Legacy in the Great Commission when he said “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” In other words: Give to others what I have given you. Make of others what I have made of you. This legacy of Jesus has been faithfully handed down from generation to generation. And now it’s our turn. Our legacy in this world depends on how we, as one church family, decide to invest what was given to us into the lives of others. Not for our own glory, but for the one who is alive today and advancing his Kingdom through us. In part two of this series, Pastor Pete challenged us to focus on building God’s house first, with the biblical promise that if we do, then God will build our house.
