Description

Lucas immigrated with his family to Canada from Brazil in 2008. And just when he finally felt like he was settling in, he was unexpectedly diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a cancerous brain tumour on the cerebellum - the back part of your brain.

As a native Brazilian, soccer was core to Lucas' identity. For pretty much his entire life, he played competitive soccer. Like many of his teammates, Lucas dreamed of one-day playing professional soccer; however, these dreams quickly faded when he was diagnosed with cancer.

Despite no longer being able to play soccer, Lucas found ways to remain involved in the soccer community, namely as a team manager. Specifically, Lucas spent the past 4 years as a student manager for the University of Toronto's Men's Soccer Team.

This past spring, Lucas graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Toronto in Kinesiology. He is taking the year off to figure out what he wants to do.

We are honoured to have Lucas as part of our CCAM campaign, continuing to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer.
