First, follow The Rule of One Thousand, which says that for every 1,000 words your prospect or client speaks, you the salesperson should only speak about 100. Majority of salepeople reverse the role though. A lot of times, sales people don’t even let a client or prospect get out 10 words. In other words, the salesman is talking so damn much about himself, their products, and their opportunity. The Creator gave us TWO EARS so we LISTEN more tha we speak!
Another method to becoming a better listener is by using the super slick question/statement…"Tell me about yourself" Once you say these words BE QUIET! Let them talk you ear off. Make sure you have you laptop or phone out, and let them know that you are recording the conversation for future follow up communication. Yes fellas, we gotta be that on point with our clients and prospects to garner that trust and respect!
The Brother of Listening Is CONCENTRATING and concentrating while conversing is extremely important! Think about it, when you are talking with clients are you engaged and concentrating on what they are telling you, oe are you distracted by your phone, text messages, and emails?
