Description

Artistic Director, Adam Hemming, chats to François Lockhart, playwright and director of the show Rachel. We discuss the lines between stand-up comedy and theatre, the sense of entitlement and the inspiration from corporative work for his writing, and the challenges of adapting theatre work into film, in advance of the run of Rachel at the Space (playing 20th - 25th June, including a livestream on the 24th and on demand access for two weeks after that).

“During my lunch break, I stay at my desk. The only thing I hate more than wasting my time is wasting time realising that I’ve wasted my time.”

Rachel works hard. Rachel doesn’t ask herself too many questions. Rachel plays hard. Rachel doesn’t get burned out.
All seems well.
At her best friend Emily’s wedding, she found herself paddling in the blood of a fifty-year-old man as the newlyweds were about to start dancing on Charles Aznavour’s «She». How?

Inspired by the Gen Y anxieties, “Rachel” is a comic monologue written by playwright and comedian François Lockhart and performed by LAMDA Graduate Clara Courty-Zanca.
