Paul begins this next-to-last section of his letter with theword – Finally: After 3 incredibly rich chapters of ‘Who we are;’ and 2.5 practical chapters of ‘How we walk;’ he now moves to 11 verses of ‘Why it Matters!’ Why does it matter that you have Hope from His calling, a rich inheritance in the Saints and you possess the surpassing greatness of His Power. Why does it matter that you walk in love; in light; in His Wisdom in all of your relationships – Well it matters because…
1. WAR is raging all around us – v11-12
a. A cosmic battle
b. A spiritual battle – 2 Corinthians 11:3-5
c. A battle between Light and Darkness
d. Schemes – The Father of Lies – John 8:44 to John 10:10
2. Our Call is to Stand Firm – v11, 13, 14
a. Not to win arguments
b. Not to pick fights
c. To Stand in Christ
d. Not to falter
e. Not to Run – in either direction
f. Not to Waver
g. But to Stand – Confidently, Boldly, Faithfully
3. We need His Strength to Stand – v 10
a. Stand Still and see the Salvation of the Lord – Exodus 14:13-14
4. We need His Armor to Stand – v11, 13, 14
a. TRUTH – like a Belt - John 17:17 – Your Word is Truth i. The WORD sets us apart

c. Gospel Readiness – Of Peace – Shoes – Anchor
d. Faith – like a Shield i. 2:8-9 ii. Belief extinguishes Lies
e. Salvation – like a helmet i. Devil’s favorite whisper ii. John 10:27-30
f. The WORD – like a sword i. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ii. Offensive iii. Know the Word iv. Quote the Word
5. We Stand in Prayer
