The GO In The Gospel - A Study In Acts
Acts 2:42-47
Let’s examine the GO Church. These new converts to Christ, these Spirit-filled believers, these freshly baptized believers are living together in a community of faith. We see that they are gathering corporately for Worship and also welcoming one another into their homes – regularly, even daily…sound familiar? How many of you have been to church at least 3 times this week? How many of you have been in another Christian’s home this week, or you have made a plan to do so, soon?
The first church in the 1st century; and your church in the 21st
1. Devoted to:
a. The Apostles’ Teaching i. Bible study and preaching ii. Sunday School; Small group
b. The Fellowship i. Time together ii. I wonder if they linger like you do?
c. Breaking of Bread i. Only used one other place in the NT, seems to refer to the practice of communion, not just eating a meal.
d. The Prayers – can you image what that sounded like?
2. Awed by God
a. Aware of what He was doing i. Are you? ii. Recent examples…
b. Through the apostles…
c. In their midst…
3. United by their Beliefs
4. Radical Generous in meeting one another’s Needs - Ministry
5. Engaged fully in Daily Corporate Worship
6. And in Daily Hospitality
7. Praising God
8. Community Favor
9. Daily Salvations – The Lord’s doing
